Assisted hatching is a delicate laboratory technique in which a tiny opening is made in the embryo’s outer shell (zona pellucida) to help it “hatch” and implant into the uterine lining. It can be considered for patients of more advanced maternal age, embryos with thicker shells, or after previous IVF failure. In our partner laboratory, the procedure is performed with a precise laser by an experienced embryologist.
