Yes — IVF after 40 is possible, and many women conceive in their early 40s. But it is important to be honest: success rates per cycle are lower than at younger ages, mainly because of egg quality.
What changes after 40
Both the number and the genetic quality of eggs decline with age, which lowers the chance of a healthy embryo per cycle and raises the chance of miscarriage. This is biology, not a reflection of effort.
What can help
- A protocol tailored to your ovarian reserve
- Genetic testing of embryos (PGT) to select healthy embryos
- More than one cycle, planned realistically
- For severe male factor, techniques such as Micro-TESE
An honest note on options
Egg and sperm donation are not available in Turkey; our clinic provides own-egg IVF and ICSI. If own-egg treatment is unlikely to succeed, your physician will tell you honestly during your consultation, so you can make an informed decision.
