Vaginal rejuvenation refers to procedures that address vaginal laxity or changes — often after childbirth — for reasons of comfort and function as well as appearance. It can be surgical (vaginoplasty) or non-surgical (laser). At UCARER Women's Health (Uçarer Kadın Sağlığı) in Istanbul, these procedures are provided by Op. Dr. Meryem Gökkaya Uçarer, an experienced gynaecological surgeon certified in aesthetic gynaecology and a member of TJOD. The right option — if any — is decided at a private medical consultation.
Surgical vs laser — what's the difference?
- Vaginoplasty (surgical): tightening of the vaginal canal and supporting tissues; suitable for more significant laxity, often after childbirth.
- Laser (non-surgical): energy-based treatment used for milder concerns and certain functional symptoms; typically no incisions and a shorter recovery.
Which is appropriate depends on your anatomy, symptoms and goals — explained clearly at consultation. Neither is presented as a "must-have"; sometimes no procedure is the right advice.
Who might consider it
- Laxity or reduced comfort/function after childbirth
- Certain functional symptoms discussed with your doctor
- Personal comfort or wellbeing concerns
Suitability is always decided after an individual medical assessment.
How it works
- Consultation & assessment — private review of symptoms, anatomy and goals.
- Procedure — vaginoplasty under anaesthesia with surgical support in our partner Acıbadem hospital network (JCI-accredited group, in collaboration); or a laser session, usually as an outpatient.
- Recovery — varies by procedure; surgical recovery requires avoiding strenuous activity/intercourse for a defined period; laser recovery is typically shorter. Aftercare is explained to you.
Honest expectations & risks
- Outcomes vary between individuals; we do not promise a specific result, and we do not use before/after imagery.
- Each option has its own risks and limitations (surgical risks for vaginoplasty; for laser, evidence for some uses is still developing). These are discussed honestly before you decide.
- Informed consent and realistic goals are part of every consultation.

Frequently asked questions
Is laser or surgery better?
It depends on your symptoms and goals. Laser suits milder concerns; vaginoplasty suits more significant laxity. Your doctor advises honestly — including when no procedure is needed.
Will you show before/after photos?
No. For privacy and ethical reasons we do not use before/after imagery.
Is there downtime?
Surgical recovery needs a defined rest period; laser typically has shorter downtime. Your aftercare plan is explained individually.
Are results permanent?
Outcomes vary and are not guaranteed; factors such as future childbirth can affect results. This is discussed at consultation.
